Some Like it Hot: Dance Energy Studios Launches Ignite Performing Arts Camp

Dance. Drama. Acrobatics. Art. September 25 – 27. Aged 6 – 12 inclusive. 3 jam-packed rehearsal days. One explosive performance.

It’s that time of year again! With the September school holidays fast approaching, many parents (oftentimes fuelled by one too coffees) find themselves performing fruitless, late-night online searches. Child care Caloundra. Fun holiday camp Caloundra. Dear god please help me Caloundra. While those bearing more flexible schedules can usually fit a few extra days off into the work week to provide their own child care (phew!), our studio recognises that this isn’t a feasible solution for every family.

After consulting with some of our peeps, we decided to launch Ignite Performing Arts Camp to help you (our much-esteemed parents) deal with the ever-present school holiday child care conundrum. This jam-packed 3-day intensive creative and participatory workshop (hopefully the first of many) has been carefully designed by our talented staff to help alleviate some of your school holiday stress (yahoo!) by providing a safe and inspiring environment for your child to explore a positive sense of cultural identity and self-worth, while subsequently promoting personal growth and development.

Interested? Here’s the scoop. From September 25th – 27th, students (aged 6 – 12 inclusive) will immerse themselves in all things creative: from building stamina in a high-energy hip-hop jam to producing a colourful rendition of ‘Starry Night’ on canvas, the sky really is the limit! After 3 action-packed, fun-filled ‘rehearsal’ days, talented stage troupers (drawing on the expertise of camp leaders and specialists) will then take to the grand stand to flaunt their newly acquired skills in a mini showcase, comprised of a spotlight performance and visual arts exhibition.

While the goal of this camp is to help your child explore the depths of their innate talent while fanning the embers of their creative potential, we place a huge emphasis on performance. We know from experience that children who are given the opportunity to take that first, sometimes hesitant, step into the limelight experience a wide host of benefits, in addition to the pure joy of being up on stage, all of which contribute to their emotional, social and cognitive development.

If you don’t believe us, check out the parent feedback section on our website. Dance Energy Studio parents are the first to tote the benefits of performance for their children, from catapulting confidence to exploring self-expression and traversing team dynamics. Not to mention that “[performances] are well-organised from start to finish and an absolute delight to watch!” (says Helen, DES parent extraordinaire).

Dance. Drama. Acrobatics. Art. No matter the niche, Ignite has a little something for everyone. The cost of this 3 day workshop is $249, all-inclusive. Secure the early bird rate of $220 until September 4th. Spots are limited. For more information visit
