This week we’re celebrating LOVE at Dance Energy and Petite Performers! With Valentines Day (or PALentines day as we like to call it) coming up we’ll be focussing on the warm and fuzzy feeling that friendship, dance, family and Dance Energy can bring! The month of February is all about sharing love and inspiration as we get to know each other and welcome each other back to the studio! So let’s take a closer look at what Love Struck Week looks like!
First of all, as dancers, we understand a little more than the average joe about what love is because we have already fallen in love with dance! Love is that feeling when we truly care about something (or someone) with all our heart and for most of us here, it’s dance, family and friends! At Dance Energy and Petite Performers, we like to encourage a caring, nurturing and supportive behaviour all year round, which is why it’s perfect to start the year off with LOVE!
The studio this week is going to be filled with wonderful decorations, hearts, confetti and fun! We’ll have a photo LOVE WALL wall where you can snap a pic with your bestie, your teacher, your siblings and your parents – the more love the better! Our students will be encouraged to be inclusive of others, supportive towards each other and caring about one another’s well being with the goal of building up this morale so that they can spread this loving behaviour everywhere they go. We’ll also have heart shaped love stickies for our students to write or draw something they love about their family, friends or dance which we’ll stick up on our walls at Dance Energy HQ. Why not ask your child what they wrote on their heart sticky note and get them to rewrite it and stick one up at home – or start a love journal between you and your child to share special messages to keep forever!
As a team, we’ll be challenging ourselves and our students to be even more #lovestruckatdanceenergy by incorporating some fun activities in to the studio where we can learn to be there for one another while also understanding important dance aspects such as position changes, synchronicity and musicality! For example, we’ll team up our students into pairs and they have to complete the entire class together, help each other with the moves or timing, do the exercise with each other and help each other pack up after class. Not only will this help friendships bloom but also help our students understand that it’s okay to help each other out – no matter if that person is your bestie or not!
To make things extra special, we’ve created a Love Struck playlist which our teachers will be using for classes! Don’t be surprised if your child comes home bursting with love and excitement because they’ve learnt a swoon-worthy routine that they created or learnt off their teacher! To embrace this loving excitement, why not let them show it to you while offering them all of your attention while they perform their mini love routine for you – make sure you film it so you can treasure it and share the love of dance forever!
At Dance Energy we just know that being a generous, kind and loving dancer is so important for both the dance community and the dance industry. This is how we share our love of dance with the world and encourage others to appreciate dance as an art while also encouraging those around us to also be loving, generous and kind. Through the love of dance we can spread a positive message to the world, so let’s embrace the love around us and have a dashing Love Struck Week (and year) at Dance Energy!
Ps. we have some gorgeous graphics going out on our social platforms this week which you’re welcome to download, print and/or share! And if you snap any pics at the LOVE WALL or around the studio this week then be sure to tag us and use #lovestruckatdanceenergy so we can be part of your Love Struck journey!
