Our Spark Extension Program is back, and it's bigger and better in 2025! This elite team is designed for dancers who are looking to push their technique, travel for competitions, and expand their performance opportunities. While there’s no separate audition, registering your interest during our main audition day is crucial. This program requires a higher level of commitment, but it’s perfect for those ready to take their dancing to the next level.
More Competitions: Spark dancers will travel further, competing locally and at select competitions throughout Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Advanced Training: In addition to team rehearsals, dancers will train in focused Extend Classes to fine-tune their technical skills.

Our Confetti Kids Crew is a beginner-level performance team for dancers aged 5-10. This team is perfect for students wanting to dip their toes into the performing world. With less competition and more focus on community performances, students from our school locations are welcome to continue their school-specific classes while also participating in the Confetti Kids Crew as an additional opportunity.
-
We are excited to launch our new Under 6 team, designed for dancers who are turning 4 by January 1st, 2025. This group will:
Focus on building dance foundations while having fun.
Compete at two local competitions, with an emphasis on making the experience enjoyable and stress-free.
Participate in community performances, including aged care visits and local events, to give back to the community.
-
All other teams, including Hip Hop crews, regular age teams, and Acro squads, must attend their technique classes and performance team classes at either our Caloundra or Maroochydore studios. Dancers are welcome to take school classes in addition, but as we are streamlining our classes into recreational and extend classes, performance team squads will only be open to students who partake in our Extend Program stream. Recreational classes will continue to be offered at both our Caloundra and Maroochydore locations, as well as our school locations.
Audition Process & What to Expect
-
Warm-Up & Technique Assessment
We’ll start with a warm-up, followed by an evaluation of core dance skills (kicks, jumps, and turns). This helps us place you in the best team to match your current ability level.
-
Choreography & Improvisation
Dancers will learn a short routine to showcase their skills. You’ll also have a chance to improvise and show off any special tricks or moves.
-
Team Building & Fun
Our audition day is about more than just technique. You'll get to know your fellow dancers & take part in a variety of activities. All dancers who attend the audition day will be placed in a team —everyone will have a chance to shine in 2025!
TWO LOCATIONS. ONE LOVE.
At Dance Energy Studios, we are proud to have two vibrant locations—Caloundra and Maroochydore. Our strength lies in our community and connection, and we embrace the opportunity to bring these two studios together in an exciting performance environment.
We are excited to offer our Spark Extension Team, which combines talented students from both studios, allowing for a rich exchange of creativity and camaraderie. In 2025, we are also exploring the possibility of adding more teams that unite dancers from Caloundra and Maroochydore, further enriching our community and fostering collaboration.
Together, we cultivate a culture of support, friendship, and artistic growth, allowing dancers from both locations to thrive, collaborate, and shine on stage. Whether you’re in Caloundra or Maroochydore, we share a common love for dance that unites us all!
FAQs
-
All team members are required to attend both their technique classes and performance team classes at our Caloundra or Maroochydore studio. Students in our Spark Extension Team will have additional commitments. Once auditions are complete, detailed timetables and costs will be shared with families before making any solid commitments. Our Confetti Kids Crew offers a lower commitment level with fewer competitions and more local community performances.
-
Our audition process is fun and stress-free! It's designed to be similar to another dance class where students can move freely and enjoy themselves. Auditions will assess students' technique, performance skills, and improvisation. Every student who attends will be placed in a team. After audition results are announced, families will receive information packs detailing commitments, costs, and the 2025 timetable before an in-person meeting.
-
Yes! Students in performance teams are welcome to continue taking school-specific classes. However, to be part of a performance team, they must also attend technique and performance team classes at either our Caloundra or Maroochydore studio. Our studio classes are streamed into recreational and extend classes to ensure that students in performance teams are training with like-minded dancers.
For Confetti Kids, they can take recreational classes at their school location and join the Confetti Kids Crew as their additional class without needing to take extra studio classes.
-
All students in our performance teams, including crews and squads, are required to take classes within our Extend stream, which offers focused, skill-building training to enhance their performance level. While Extend classes are more intensive, they are still fun and engaging! This new approach in 2025 allows us to streamline classes, ensuring students receive the education they desire and can be extended in their abilities.
Students in the Confetti Kids Crew can choose Recreational classes instead, which provide a more relaxed, fun environment with less intensive training.
-
If your child is unable to attend the scheduled audition date, don’t worry! Simply fill out the audition form and indicate 'no' under attendance. We will arrange an alternative way to audition, such as via video or during another class. Additionally, we may reach out to their class teachers to assess where they would be best suited. You’ll still receive all the relevant information afterward.
-
The exact costs will vary depending on the team and number of competitions. After auditions, we will provide a detailed information pack with all associated costs, including tuition fees, costumes, competition entry fees, and any travel expenses. Families will have this information before finalising their commitment.
